At Boys and Girls State, delegates are given the opportunity to explore new options and experiences in governance. With this being the central focus of the program, I decided to ask and interview people about their first experiences here at Sacramento State University. Whether it’s from trying new food in the dining commons or finding new ways to be social, there are many first experiences here at Boys and Girls State.
My first interviewee is Marco Pariani. He, like all of us here, had many enticing first experiences. “One of my favorite first experiences here was eating at a college cafeteria,” Marco states that it was very interesting being able to have so many food options and to know that he could never go hungry because there was always something that he liked.
Another ambitious Delegate is Emily Ota. Yesterday was her first time staying in a dorm room with somebody that she had never met before. “I was a little nervous having to meet and stay in a dorm with a random person I had never met, but I’m extremely happy with who I got paired with! She’s very nice, and we walk to breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. We even have a snack drawer where we dump all of our snacks for us to share!” says Ota. Emily Ota being paired with an amazing roommate truly shows the possibilities available here at Boys and Girls State.
Boys and Girls State is an amazing place for first-time opportunities. These experiences will help us grow and connect as one giant delegate body.
