General Assembly with the Feds
The General Assembly took place in the Dining Commons Lawn while temperatures were at peak height. Each newly appointed Senate and Assembly member had their name and city said out loud, receiving overall applause and support during their announcing, especially from their respective cities. Although the announcer stated not to cheer and to hold applause until the end, when everyone had already been announced, the crowd could not contain their support, persisting and cheering and applauding for their preferred candidates.
After the positions were announced, the candidates were sworn into office becoming official! Soon after the Senators and Assembly became official they were dismissed into their respective meetings at Jenkins Study Lounge to elect Senate leadership and other important positions. Later in the Assembly, many promises to defeat the Whigs and take total control of Government office had been clearly stated by the Feds. With a strong desire to completely exclude the Whigs from the ballot and hope to present 2 Federal Candidates after the Open Primary Elections.
City Ordinances Established!
It’s Day Three, and city councils across the state are in full swing! From creative laws to humorous penalties, cities have been busy drafting ordinances that reflect both their competitive spirit and sense of fun. Many cities have already passed a wide range of rules–from fines for being late to playful penalties for mispronouncing names.
In the City of Reagan, their first ordinance sets the tone: “The counselor formerly known as Kory must now be referred to as MaxPreps. Anyone who fails to do so must either pay a $5 fine or complete 30 push-ups!”
While these ordinances are partly aimed at securing the title of Model City, they also serve a deeper purpose — bringing laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories to Boys and Girls State. For many cities, the goal isn’t just to win, but to make the experience meaningful and fun for everyone.
