The Story Behind the Name Tag

Today at California Boys & Girls State, we interviewed Lukas Brennan, current mayor of DeVault City in Haley County. Today we go over why he applied, what issue matters the most to him, and what he hopes to accomplish this week. 

We asked Lukas why he applied and he responded with, “Well, coming into Boys and Girls State, I really wanted to become mayor of whatever city I got into because I am a leader. I always have been and always will be a leader. I really care about my ideas and want to make sure that people know them.” These insightful words from Lukas are truly inspiring to anyone wanting to run for mayor.

An issue that stands out the most to Lukas is when people are loud during quiet hours and walking through city meetings. He wants to make sure that everyone is able to listen to the city council members at every time during our time with no distractions occurring. He also wants everyone to be quiet during quiet hours because he needs his beauty sleep, and so do we. By Lukas stating his thoughts, it truly shows how he works as a mayor for DeVault City.

Finally, he hopes to accomplish city peace. He wants everyone in our city to be nice, kind, and respectful. He states, “This is how you get people to connect, being peaceful, just like in Minecraft peaceful mode.”
